Apple has acknowledged issues with its new iPhone 15 models overheating, assuring customers that a software fix is on the way. The tech giant clarified that the problem, which has led to complaints about the devices getting too hot, is not due to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max's titanium casing but rather a software bug and issues with certain apps including Instagram and Uber.

Apple's statement came after reports and online forum discussions highlighted the overheating issue, with some saying the new iPhones were becoming uncomfortably hot. Contrary to speculation, Apple confirmed that the issue is unrelated to the transition to a USB-C port or the new models' titanium casing. Instead, it pointed to a software bug and the way certain apps operate on the iOS17 system as the cause of the problem.

Meta Platforms' Instagram has already updated its app to address the issue, while updates from Uber and the game Asphalt 9 are expected soon. Apple has yet to provide a specific timeline for its iOS update but reassured iPhone 15 users that there are no safety concerns that should prevent them from using their devices in the meantime.

This overheating issue comes at a challenging time for Apple, which has seen a downturn in sales, including a 4% drop in iPhone sales over the past three fiscal quarters. The introduction of the iPhone 15 Pro Max at a starting price of $1,200, a 9% increase from last year's model, is part of Apple's strategy to boost sales. However, investor confidence has waned, leading to a significant decrease in Apple's market value since it hit $3 trillion in late June.

As Apple works on resolving the overheating issue, customers and investors alike are keenly watching how the situation unfolds and its impact on the tech giant's efforts to revitalize sales of its flagship product.
